A High Barrier Film can meet a retort hold specification while the finished pouch still needs cooling validation. Distortion during this phase calls for the full pressure and temperature history.
Cailong's High Barrier Film range includes BOPP-SiOx-TZ, an 18 µm film listed for 121°C for 30 minutes. This rating does not approve a customer's cooling programme.
Record when swelling, wrinkles or seal movement first appear. Compare pouch orientation, fill volume and headspace at the same cycle settings. A hold-time result alone cannot identify the cause.
The listed BOPP / BOPP-SiOx-TZ / RCPP structure assigns outer support, barrier and sealing to separate layers. Check bond condition and package integrity after cooling, then obtain OTR and WVTR for the processed laminate.
Send the retort cooling curve, pressure record and affected pouch samples to Cailong before changing the barrier grade.
